  • kaupapa Māori research and principles

  • participatory action research

  • Indigenous psychologies

  • ethnographic research

  • science writing

  • GIS and AI technologies

  • behaviour change.

Some of our researchers had been engaged in biosecurity social research for many years, while others in the team new to kauri dieback and myrtle rust brought new perspectives that may not yet have been considered.

We embraced postgraduate researchers in the team by offering funded Masters research opportunities, and summer internships for small scale projects within the larger research projects. Additionally, we supported early career researchers and encouraged the employment of postgraduate students as research assistants.

Mobilising for Action’s research supported, engaged and empowered communities, many of which were partners with project researchers to form a wider community of interest.

Our Co-leads

Mobilising for Action was co-led by Dr Marie McEntee, a social scientist from the School of Environment, and Dr Mark Harvey, a performance and live artist from the Faculty of Creative Arts and Industries both at the University of Auckland | Waipapa Taumata Rau.

Our Researchers

Our team of research specialists drews from a wide pool of national and international institutions with experience in theoretical and applied social research and qualitative and quantitative research methodologies. It included a diverse range of applied practitioners with experience in community projects and collaborations and we embraced postgraduates and early career researchers.
